House Democratic leader calls on Weiner to resign (Reuters)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Democratic leader of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, on Saturday called on fellow Democratic Representative Anthony Weiner to resign after his admission last week that he had had improper Internet exchanges with several women and then lied about it.

"Congressman Weiner has the love of his family, the confidence of his constituents, and the recognition that he needs help," Pelosi said in a statement. "I urge Congressman Weiner to seek that help without the pressures of being a Member of Congress."
